A little story about the triptych “Coniferous Wind”.
In the triptych “Coniferous Wind”, each photograph tells its own unique story, and together they create a harmonious narrative about time, place, and emotions.
The central photo was taken in the studio in Kyiv in October 2022.
The other two photographs, taken on Andriyivskyy Descent in 2023, reflect the beauty of the cityscape that was changed by the war.
The desolation of the streets and the abandonment of windows that had not been washed for a year or more gave these images a sense of oblivion and loss, but also of the indomitable spirit of the city that continues to live despite all the trials. Tsu gave the photographs a similarity to Japanese paintings that exude the calm and wisdom that often comes with trials and survival.
“Coniferous Wind” doesn’t just depict places; it conveys experiences that unite the past with the present, the personal with the universal, and ultimately, creates a space for reflection and empathy.

Synergy of beauty (triptychs)
I began to work on this series in September, 2022.
In September 2022, there was no opportunity to shoot in Kyiv, so the work on this series was based on collages of photos taken earlier and on one of the triptychs, architectural elements were taken from photos taken earlier. But since October 2022, I have already started shooting in the studio. For my series, I chose a style with a touch of surrealism. The style with the admixture of surrealism is selected because it freedom for fantasy and creativity, thus, helping to finish the necessary image or picture by ourselves. In these images, you could plunge into your imaginary world of beauty.
And the longer I worked on this series, the more meanings were revealed to me. In addition to the beauty of life symbolized by women and flowers. Women as a symbol of procreation, and flowers as a reminder that life is bright, interesting, but quite fragile and every moment should be appreciated. This is especially acutely felt under rocket fire.
I realized that by turning to the subconscious because I chose surrealism, I began to convey through my photos the state in which most people were probably in. When a person’s eyes are closed, they lose their steady state of relying on their body and it is more difficult to control it. This is the state we were in, we lost our usual world and support. That’s why the series became triptychs to add stability and support symbolized by architectural elements.
In the process of creating the series, I experimented with different styles and techniques.
The series combines paintings created by various means: there are works where collage techniques or additional effects were used, and there are works that were never filmed.
Most of the architectural elements of the series were taken in 2023
